Leo Grifka ’05 is Bringing a Boutique Hotel to Culver City

Leo Grifka ’05 started his real estate career in residential brokerage selling small homes in what could best be described as "up-and-coming areas." He moved into development after a few years, where he became a partner at a firm doing work that renovates existing buildings into something completely different, called adaptive re-use. “In the past, I would renovate old office buildings, industrial buildings or event spaces into creative office space,” said Leo. Over the course of his four years there, he completed 12 building projects. “Now, my current project is an adaptive re-use of an apartment-style building into a boutique hotel.” Leo founded Grifka Group to develop this 49-room boutique hotel in the heart of Downtown Culver City. “I'm still young in the business, but I've built a reputation for being a developer who takes pride in a high-end finished product and who isn't afraid to take on what most developers would call a difficult project.” Leo loves real estate development but the best part of his day is coming home to his wife Simonette and their baby William, saying, “nothing is better.”
