J.J. Abrams Visits Milken

Writer, producer, and director J.J. Abrams came to campus on Monday, February 22.
Addressing students in the Film Club, along with members of the Milken faculty and staff, Abrams shared stories of his youth writing scripts and making Super 8 films. He also recalled being hired by Steven Spielberg to restore Super 8 films and recounted selling his first screenplay, which he co-wrote, before graduating from college. He encouraged students to write what they love.

The creator of such popular television shows as Felicity, Lost, and Alias described his career ascent and his move into directing, making his feature film directorial debut with Mission Impossible: III, followed by Star Trek, Super 8, Star Trek Into Darkness, and most recently the blockbuster Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens.

At the end of Abrams’ talk, students had the opportunity to ask questions during a Q&A session.
