Students Bring Home Awards in International Art Contest

Mazal tov to our students who placed in the RAVSAK Judaic Art Contest.
Josh Kleynberg ‘17 took 2nd place in the Drawing and Painting category with his untitled color pencil and acrylic paint piece. Kayla Danesh ‘17 claimed 3rd place in the same category with her color pencil and graphite works, “Looking Through New Lenses.” They will both receive an art gift card and an original piece of art from artist Gary Rosenthal.

Ali Lowe ‘20 also received an award, winning an honorable mention in the Sculpture and Mixed Media category for her oil pastel and collage piece. She will receive a special certificate.

The artists interpreted Jewish texts from the Global Day of Jewish Learning Curriculum to create their work, which was based on the theme “Journey.” More than 650 students from 30 day schools throughout North America competed in the competition.

The winning artwork will be featured in the Spring 2015 issue of HaYidion, which will be sent out in March.
