Parent Engagement

Parent Engagement

Parent Engagement at Milken is an important facet of the Milken experience. The “why” of parent engagement is encapsulated in these five guiding principles: Engage parents in Milken’s mission and core values; Provide practical education for key social and emotional issues, such as drugs and alcohol, well-being, cyber safety, executive functioning, intimacy and sexuality, and suicide prevention; Integrate Jewish and general learning; Strengthen our Milken parent community; and Become a resource for the larger community.

With this in mind, we are excited to offer parents robust opportunities for adult learning through our Parent Education program, as well as engaging with the Milken Parents Association (MPA) to build and strengthen community.

Parent Education

We are excited to offer parents ongoing, integrated parent education sessions within each division and adult learning opportunities throughout the year. Led by our educational team and outside experts, these education sessions focus on a range of developmentally appropriate topics such as cyber safety, drug education, executive functioning and study skills, and parenting, all explored through the lenses of wellness and Jewish values. We also offer parent education and engagement opportunities led by our divisional teams. Sessions are held approximately once per month.

Milken Parents Association (MPA)

Our Milken Parents Association enhances the overall community of Milken with a focus on creating a sense of warmth, connectedness, and belonging for each parent. Led by a dedicated group of parents on our MPA Leadership Committee, the MPA helps plan many student and parent events throughout the year, including the Welcome Parent Breakfast, Challah Bake, Shabbat Across Milken, Homecoming, Socials, and so much more. Our MPA also keeps our parents informed and connected to what is happening at Milken through our Grade Level Ambassador (GLA) chats and grade level social events. We invite you to learn more about the MPA and get involved!

-Milken Parent

Milken is not just another college prep school. It is much more than that. Milken is a community. It is a family. Parents are closely involved with school activities and have an open communication with faculty and administration.
