Italian Holocaust Victims Remembered

Students, faculty, and staff paid tribute to the Italian Jews who perished in the Holocaust.
On Tuesday, January 27, the Milken community read victims' names out loud to commemorate Italy’s Holocaust Remembrance Day. It marked the 70th anniversary of the liberation of the largest Nazi concentration camp, Auschwitz-Birkenau. Enrica Dente degli Scrovegni from the Italian Consulate General’s office and Marcie Goldstein from the American Jewish Committee (AJC) were on hand for the ceremony.

The names of 8,000 Italian Jewish Holocaust victims were read aloud simultaneously at different venues across Los Angeles. The event was organized by the Italian Consulate General’s office in Los Angeles, the Italian Cultural Institute of Los Angeles, AJC, and the Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust (LAMOTH).
