Senior Wins Top Honors at Prestigious Writing Competition

Congratulations to Gabi Kamran ’15 on her multiple Scholastic Art & Writing Award wins.
In a remarkable accomplishment, Gabi received two Gold Keys, two Silver Keys, and one Honorable Mention. Her works were selected from submissions in the Western Region-At-Large, which includes entries from 10 states.

Her winning pieces include a collection of poems (Gold), a Common Application essay (Gold), an essay about Betty Friedan that won the Alexander Award earlier in the year (Silver), a Roar article about catcalling (Silver), and a Roar article about Judaism and Feminism (Honorable Mention).

An excited Gabi remarked, "I'm beyond honored to receive recognition from a writing competition like Scholastic. I hope that I'll have opportunities for similar celebrations in the future, whether I become a journalist, a novelist, or something completely different!"

The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards is one of the nation’s oldest, most prestigious, and longest-running writing and visual arts competition for teens.
