Part-Time Robotics Coach

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Robotics Coach position requires approximately 25 hours per week in the afternoons and evenings (but will fluctuate throughout the year) and is responsible for supervising and leading our robotics program, including recruiting and training students for FTC and FRC robotics competitions. The goal of the Robotics Team is to develop a cohesive and collaborative team that successfully competes in regional, state, and national FRC and FTC Robotics tournaments with both our middle and upper school teams. The Assistant Robotics Coach is a part-time hourly position reporting to the Curriculum Coach and Director of Fabrication. 

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Prepares and implements practice plans and logistics for the Robotics team.
  • Oversees all aspects of robotics for a particular competition including the training and instruction of students to learn and compete to the highest standards.
  • Maintain an appropriate practice and competition schedule.
  • Provide leadership, demonstrate sportsmanship and be a positive role model for Robotics team members at all times.
  • Properly instruct robotic students in the safe use of equipment and tools and ensure the safety and welfare of the Robotics team at all times.
  • Build a positive team rapport that will ensure every member of the team has a role and is valued. 
  • Provide proper supervision of robotic students during practice and competitions. 
  • In collaboration with school administration, plan and manage the Robotics budget.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, colleagues and other community members. 
  • Instruct students on Engineering Design and how to apply this concept to designing, building, programming, and testing a robot for robotics competition
  • Schedule and compete in-season and in off-season competitions with middle & upper school students
  • In collaboration with the Instructional leader, recruit students and adult mentors for the Robotics program.  This may include participating in school-wide admission events which take place on weekends. 
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelors in Engineering, education or related fields.
  • Experience working with FTC Robotics (High School) and FRC (Middle School)preferred.
  • Working knowledge of CAD, CAM, 3D printing, and machining with routers, mills, lathes, laser cutters and other machinery.
  • Working knowledge of power tools and their safety requirements

Normal Hours
  • Mon, Tues, Thurs: 1:00 PM-6:00 PM
  • Weds and Fri: 10:00 AM-4:00 PM
  • Occasional Sundays as available or necessary.

SALARY RANGE: $30-$50/hr depending on experience
